Positive Responses Coming In From Rebound

Share |
Sword Productions and Asia Pacific Media Ministries teamed up to produce a full-length feature evangelistic film for youth and young adults last year. It premiered in theaters nationwide last November and aired again on national cable television on Good Friday this year.

REBOUND is a story of hope and redemption. Endeavoring to address the pressing problems of today's youth, the movie deals with feelings of self-worth, the complexities of parent-child relationships, peer pressure, drugs, pre-marital sex and the toll these issues take on young lives. Instead of presenting a negative reference to these problems, REBOUND offers positive alternatives and solutions.

Noel, the star of REBOUND, is a small town basketball hotshot who goes to the big city to make a name for himself. But superstardom goes to his head and the pressure drives him to drugs. He is arrested and serves time in jail, where he eventually finds God, and himself.

After six years, Noel returns home, repentant, reformed and eager to make amends with those he has hurt, primarily his disillusioned and hopeless father and the girlfriend he abandoned in her time of greatest need. Back home he meets a group of aspiring but undisciplined basketball players led by the current town hotshot. Noel sees himself in this group and is convinced they do not have to go through the same mistakes he made six years ago.

REBOUND is not only an effective evangelistic tool, but also a first class cinematic experience!

From Alvin Abad

We had a good time selling REBOUND [DVDs] at our convention. Even though the weather was cold, the selling of the movie was hot!

One pastor who stopped by our table was very excited. He is from Calatagan and he identified the locations where we shot. Another pastor said he is going to show the movie at his son's basketball league in their barangay.

Here are some of the feedback I got:
The movie was beautifully made!
The story of the movie is very relevant at this time, especially to the youth!
Thank you for making Tagalog [language] movies for evangelism!
The movie is perfect for reaching the youth in our community!

After the showing of REBOUND at the convention, participants rushed to our table and grabbed their copies. Some bought two or three copies to give as gifts. I hope these pastors will write to us about the movie when they show it to their churches. To God be the glory!

From Rev. Peter Banzon

We showed REBOUND at 10:00 p.m. and people were willing to stay up until midnight to watch it!

Here are some of the comments I heard afterwards:
Effective...good overall impact...comparable to the movie
Facing the Giants.
WOW! Excellent...very cinematic...relates to contemporary issues.
Fruitful movie...very timely and very challenging.
A non-traditional evangelistic film.
Very touching...Two thumbs up!
Very different from other evangelistic films.

We almost sold out of all the REBOUND videos.
