JayR Manalo—Behind Every Screen Beats a Shepherd’s Heart

Long before cameras, lights, and film sets, there was a young man in a church pew making PowerPoint slides—heart tender toward God, eyes already imagining how stories could move people toward Him.
JayR Manalo did not chase filmmaking. In many ways, it chased him.
“I actually did not take any film-related course in my college days. I just liked the idea of creating those slides.”
What began as humble service—presentations for church camps and worship nights—quietly planted a seed. He loved how a well-crafted image could soften hearts and help people see Jesus more clearly. He didn’t know then that God was gently leading him toward a life of media ministry.
After college, JayR spent seven years at a video production company in Makati, learning everything from the ground up. He carried crates, set up tripods, and cut footage late into the night. But his heart never drifted far from the church.
A Door God Had Already Opened
When the opportunity came to join Asia Pacific Media full-time, it felt less like a career move and more like coming home.
“It was an easy transition for me to be a part of this team because I like the people; I like what APMedia is doing.”
Since 2013, JayR has served as APMedia’s Video Production Team Leader—not just creating content, but shaping the storytellers who will carry the gospel into the next generation.
When asked about his strengths, JayR doesn’t point to technical mastery. He points to something quieter—and more powerful.
“Honestly, I don’t think I have a very unique skill … I just like the joy of serving.”
JayR has traveled to different countries training churches in media—not as an expert, but as a disciple-maker. His joy comes when students begin creating their own content and reaching their own communities for Christ.
Ministry Isn’t Glamorous
There are long days under blazing sun and late nights on remote shoots. Yet JayR has learned a sacred secret: “I always try to find joy in whatever we’re doing … to create something that you know the people will be blessed.”
He speaks of Ang Sugo—a film that continues reaching people online. Comment after comment pours in from viewers led closer to Christ. For JayR, these aren’t just views. They’re souls. Not just comments—but conversations with eternity.
When you support Asia Pacific Media, you’re fueling a movement led by faithful servants like JayR Manalo, who are reaching the unreached and carrying the gospel into every digital space.
Some missionaries preach from pulpits. Others preach through lenses. JayR does both—quietly, faithfully, and powerfully.
