Media and Ministry Forum: Turning Media Skills into Ministry Vision

"At first, I was nervous because it was one of the first times I would be with other leaders in media ministry. But it turned out to be such a meaningful experience."

Pastor Trixie Soriano discovered Asia Pacific Media's mentoring program through a simple Facebook post in the Media and Ministry Forum. As the newly appointed media director at Epicenter Church Manila, she was looking for guidance on how to shepherd her growing media team effectively. What she found was far more than technical training—it was a transformative leadership experience available through Asia Pacific Media's free mentoring sessions.

Epicenter Church, a nine-year-old daughter church of Ephesus Baguio, serves young professionals and growing families across Mandaluyong and Pasig. When Trixie stepped into the media director role just last year, the church's social media presence was minimal. She knew they needed to change that, but she wasn't sure how to lead her team through the transition.

Building vision beyond church walls

The mentoring sessions helped Trixie clarify something crucial: her team's purpose extended far beyond serving Sunday services. While they handle worship lyrics, sound mixing, and general media production, their real calling was evangelism through digital platforms.

"One of our team's goals is to evangelize using media—creating content that is relatable and meaningful, especially for those who don't go to church or don't yet know Jesus," Trixie explains.

This shift in vision produced immediate results. The team began posting content specifically designed for non-churchgoers, and the response exceeded their expectations. Church members shared how the posts ministered to them, while visitors found the content relatable and engaging.

Learning to shepherd creatives

The mentoring program, led by experienced leaders like Keith Garner, addressed Trixie's primary challenge: how to lead a team of creative individuals effectively. Initially intimidated by being around other media ministry leaders, she quickly discovered the value of peer learning and expert guidance in the weekly sessions.

"The sessions helped me clarify the vision for our team, and it affirmed what God had already placed in my heart. I also learned how to lead our team more effectively, how to bring them back to Jesus, and how to steward the talents and skills that God has entrusted to us."

The weekly sessions became something Trixie looked forward to, providing both practical leadership skills and spiritual direction for her growing ministry responsibilities.

Multiplying creative impact

What began as uncertainty about leading a media team has evolved into confident ministry leadership. Trixie now understands how to help her team members see their work as more than technical skills—it's about stewarding God-given creativity for Kingdom purposes.

The transformation extends beyond Trixie's personal growth. Her team now operates with clear vision and purpose, creating content that reaches both church members and the unchurched community.

They've seen firsthand how social media can become a tool for evangelism when guided by intentional strategy and spiritual leadership.

Asia Pacific Media's mentoring program provided exactly what Trixie needed: a supportive community of leaders, practical guidance for shepherding creative teams, and affirmation that media ministry is a legitimate calling worthy of excellence.

The fact that these sessions are offered free of charge makes this level of leadership development accessible to churches regardless of their budget constraints.

For churches with growing media ministries, this kind of leadership development proves essential for maximizing both creative potential and Kingdom impact.

As Trixie puts it: "To all creatives who want to serve God through media—I invite you to join the AP Media mentoring sessions. It's an amazing space where you'll learn how to lead, how to pastor your team well, and how to use your creativity for God's Kingdom."
